The Isle of Raasay is one of the Inner Hebrides and is located between the Scottish mainland on the east and the Isle of Skye on the west. Raasay is accessed via the Caledonian MacBrayne ferry from Sconser on the Isle of Skye (there is a road bridge between the Isle of Skye and the Scottish mainland). The crossing between the Isles of Raasay and Skye takes 25 minutes and there are frequent ferries between the islands:

The Isle of Raasay enjoys outstanding views to the Applecross Peninsula on the Scottish mainland, Skye’s Cuillin mountains, and the Trotternish Peninsula across the Sound of Raasay. Wildlife is in abundance on Raasay; you may even get to see a golden or sea eagle, deer, otters, seals, dolphins, mountain hare, grouse and the unique Raasay vole to name but a few. The island is ideal for activities such as boating/sailing, kayaking, geology, astronomy, photography, fishing, and cycling. There are walks by forests, lochs, mountains, moors, and the rocky coastline. Places of interest include Calum’s Road, deserted clearance villages, Brochel Castle’s haunting ruins, tranquil Inver Beach, First World War iron mine buildings, and Dun Caan, a flat-topped peak of about 1456 feet, visible from many miles around. Raasay House Hotel and the newly opened whiskey distillery are added attractions. There is a grocery shop, post office, and primary school in Inverarish. Portree, the main town on the Isle of Skye, is approximately 12 miles from Sconser.

2 Balachuirn is approximately 130 years old and extends to some 84m2. This traditional Hebridean crofting cottage has been sensitively refurbished to a good standard throughout for modern comfort. The property benefits from replacement PVC glazing throughout with heating by way of Dimplex Quantum night storage heaters to the ground floor. The peaceful rural location makes this cottage the perfect ‘getaway’ destination.

The garden grounds are mostly laid to grass and are left natural, with off-road parking area sufficient for 3 cars to the left and right of the cottage.

Included in the sale are the cooker and fitted floor coverings. This property can be sold fully furnished at an additional price by separate negotiation.

SERVICES: Mains electricity, mains water, drainage to septic tank.
